(More customer reviews)We've been using this playard mainly as a secondary sleeping area for about 6 months now (our daughter is 9 months old). We have used it whenever we have travelled, both long distance and local. It is well made and durable and everything seems very "safe" (i.e. it is all well connected and there are no bits that I can see that could potentially break and become a hazard). It has survived two plane trips, although we did have it wrapped for extra protection in the planes hold, and one long car journey without any sign of damage.
I am not sure the electronic feature (it plays some music, has a night light and vibrates) is exactly a "must have" and if I was on a budget I would happily choose one without it. I think it perhaps provided about hours extra peace and quiet before the little one grew bored with it (of course an hours extra peace and quiet at the right time can be worth just about ANYTHING to new parents)!
The changing table is terrific. You will be surprised how quickly guest rooms get crowded when you are travelling with a baby (they pack BIG) and being able to use the space already occupied by the cot for changing is great (not to mention easily cleaned).
Construction is easy ... once you get the hang of it. You will surely spend a few extra minutes the first few times you put it up wrestling with the locking mechanism on the frame but once you understand how this works properly you have to admit that it is very easy (it is all in the instructions, which are good, I just had not read them carefully enough).
The only criticism I have of this playard is that, while it does fold up neatly and has wheels for "easy" dragging it is not as light weight and portable as I would have liked. A really simple light weight option would have been great for things like the frequent short trips to grandparents' houses that we do. But to be fair - that is not the market I think this playard is aimed at. This is a full featured and good quality "playard" product, not a simple "camp cot".
The last word I guess should go to the number one critic - our daughter - who seems to love it. (Although if it is not going to be your babies primary sleeping area I would suggest getting them used to it for a few nights before you go away).
